Does anyone on list know if there is an equivalent application for

Currently not (only a special form of smart card reader pass-through
over RDP, which could be extended to local support), but such special
features don't "fall from the sky", they need someone driving them.

VirtualBox is open source, and contributions are possible in many areas,
shapes and forms.
